Download official Microsoft IRCTC App for Windows 8: book and cancel railway tickets from smartphone

Here comes one of the biggest revolutions in Indian Railway history. If you are their regular customer then you might have experienced IRCTC website down most of the time. Actually to solve the offline issues, Indian Railway had launched their online portal through which customers can perform almost all the offline activities. But because of very huge traffic, you will experience their site crashed most of the times. It is the main reason why people are looking for their alternatives.

Sensing the demand of the time, Microsoft is bringing one new app for IRCTC in India. If it goes well then it will totally change the concept of online trains booking/checking in India. In order to reduce the heavy loads of traffic, Microsoft has decided not to open it between 08:00 to 12:00 and 23:30 to 00:30 hours. You can book/cancel tickets in the remaining hours. So this is the main strategy Microsoft will work with.

Microsoft IRCTC Application in India

Well talking more about this app then it is going to be the mini version of official IRCTC website which will have time limitations this time. With this app, you can directly manage all your Indian Railway queries on your own end. Its features include:

• Book online train tickets
• Cancel tickets
• All PNR enquiries like status check
• Railway reservation can also be made through it
• You can check for availability of tickets with exact official data
• Available in form of a live tile that shows minute to minute fluctuations
• Integrated with user friendly interface that is very easy to use
• Travel routes information
• Lots more

Till now Microsoft has launched it for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 versions only. I think they will keep it exclusive for both the versions (only). You can even install it as a live tile on your system or mobile phone. You can download it from here:
Windows 8
Windows phone 8

Installation process for this app is similar to all other apps. It is a cool app that will relieve some of the load from official IRCTC website (at least we can hope so). It comes with a catch about opening time. Microsoft has decided to close it during the peak hours. According to me IRCTC should divert most of the bandwidth for peak hours now. With this app they have a perfect friend (you can even say rival, alternative) that will grow in future for sure. Till now download links are not dropped from Microsoft’s end. Hopefully they will manage all he backend process affectively.
