[How To] CM 11 based Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM update for Nexus 5


If you are a Nexus 5 user then you might be aware of different Android 4.4 KitKat ROMs for it. With the kind of ROMs that are being developed for this smartphone giant in past few months, it seems like it is on the target list of all the custom ROM developers. I hope you have installed some of the ROM till now. Among all the ROMs, there were some ROMs which didn’t scaled well up to the users expectations but also there were some ROMs which did really well when it comes to exploit all the improved features of newly built interface.

Here I am going to discuss about Cyanogen Mod 11 Firmware based Android 4.2.2 KitKat ROM update for Nexus 5. When it comes to custom built ROMs then Cyanogen Mod or CM (popular name) is the first name that every user will want to go with. CM is the first choice of major group of Android users (who loves custom ROM) and why should they not be the first priority as they always comes with real interface that let you experience improved UI and improved functions. Based on Android 4.2.2 base, they have released a stable ROM for Nexus 5. According to me if you are looking for some stable KitKat ROM for your Nexus 5 then it should be your first choice. I will even suggest you to replace your current custom ROM with this CM built ROM (you will yourself realize the difference between CM and any other custom ROM).

Now let we have a look at general tutorial that will help you to flash this ROM package on your smartphone. But before that, please fulfil these pre-requisites completely. Proceed further only after following these pre-requisites. You phone should be rooted (check the status from Root Checker App) prior to this process. Now follow these steps carefully.

In order to flash this ROM, you will have to boot Nexus 5 to recovery menu. For doing it, download “ROM Manager” App from Play Store. The compete process of flashing this ROM can be summarized as:

1. Follow Pre-Requisites
2. Download the ROM and GApps to computer
3. Move these downloaded packages to Nexus 5 (via USB cable)
4. Boot to Recovery and follow the above linked steps carefully.

That’s All! If everything goes well then you will see CM11 based Android 4.2.2 KitKat Firmware in Settings>>About Phone menu.
