Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM for Samsung Galaxy S2

Samsung is lucky enough to receive Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates from custom sources. Till now they have not released any official Android 4.4.2 KitKat for any of the flagship say Galaxy Smartphone but most of their Galaxy smartphones can be operated on latest Android iteration with help of custom ROMs. Custom ROM developers have developed latest ROMs for most of the Samsung smartphones and now it’s the turn for Galaxy S2. You heard it right, now you can easily integrate your Galaxy S2 smartphone with Android 4.4.2 KitKat based ROM. There is no ETA about official update timing so I will suggest you to try and install this custom ROM now (as it might take years for Samsung to launch Android KitKat for S2 smartphone or they might never come up with such update).

You can install this custom ROM with usual manual method (recovery booting and some instructions). I am going to discuss one of the easiest manual ways to install this ROM inside your smartphone. But still you are advised to protect your S2 from all kind of threats as neither we nor Samsung takes the responsibility of any kind of mis-happenings with your phone.

How To

1. Follow these quick pre-requisites.
2. Now download ROM and GApps to your computer.
3. Move these downloaded files to S2 SD card with help of USB cable.
4. Boot Galaxy S2 to Recovery Mode (see instructions at last).
5. Follow these instructions.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Recovery Booting

• Switch OFF Galaxy S2. Now press and hold Home + Volume Up + Power buttons altogether till you get booted to Recovery Mode (you will see Recovery Mode booting notification on your smartphone’s screen).

• If you find this method somewhat complex then download ROM Manger or QuickBoot application from Play Store and install them. After installing, please open them and select Recovery booting option.

This is how you can boot your S2 to Recovery Mode and can install the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM inside it. Although it is a un-official ROM but still it is enriched with all the official KitKat functions and performance tweaks. But if you still want to add that extra layer of security then please make a backup of your current ROM (through Recovery Mode) while installing this latest iteration based ROM. It can help you in serious cases like if you will not be satisfied with un-official KitKat ROM or you just want to give it a try for few days/hours.
