[How To] v4.19.401.8 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for HTC One

HTC is keeping their words which they have said in November 2013. At that time they had promised to come up with an official update for HTC One in EMEA countries i.e. in Europe, Middle East, and Africa. As promised they have started rolling an official update for HTC One in Europe. They will target remaining countries very soon. This new firmware is dubbed as v4.19.401.8 and it is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat base. So finally HTC One users are going to be rejoiced with the flavour of KitKat in selected countries.

Google Play Edition for HTC One has already received KitKat update last year. The latest update brings plethora of new features to the old surface that is going to improve phone’s credibility from all the possible angles. Be it software or hardware, you will see a positive response from this latest update.

It is a KitKat ROM which is the latest iteration of mobile software giant. It says all about this ROM. Latest iteration indicates best features and functionality than any other current/previous ROM for HTC One. Here we can sum up some of its main features as:

• Based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM which boasts all new software fetaures
• White icons
• Battery indicator is still in previous mould i.e. in green color
• Security is improved with latest techniques
• Connectivity issues are addressed by improving Bluetooth connectivity. This updated BT version allows you to add new profiles to medias
• Cloud printing service is integrated to H-One which allows you to print anywhere
• Browser is improved. Flash Player support is removed from the browser
• Lots more

HTC has made a major move by removing the Adobe Flash Player support from the internet browser. It might be the outcome of Adobe becoming un-responsive towards updating Adobe Mobile with latest features. Also as HTC has switched to Google Chrome Engine which hardly needs such support for mobile platform.

How to install KitKat on HTC One

As expected, HTC has rolled it as an OTA update. In its first phase, it is rolled out in Europe only. In Europe, the OTA file consumes approx 308.24 MB space which you have to download through your smartphone only. So please try this update in presence of fast internet connection only.

Sadly no details about when HTC will roll this KitKat update for India is mentioned by official sources. But we will surely have to wait for few more months.
